MSD is a festival created to celebrate and showcase the renovation and beautification of Downtown Portsmouth – and, in particular, Market Square.
MSD has grown into a huge event now attracting tens of thousands of visitors to this street festival held in downtown Portsmouth. Most of the whole of downtown is closed to cars for this second Saturday in June event making Portsmouth even more pedestrian friendly than usual.
Here are the two race leaders at about mile 5.5, only 7/10ths of a mile to go! Turned out that was the way they finished too. Bob Wiles, the guy in front, won in 31 minutes and 40 seconds. Last year’s winner Patrick Moulton in the yellow shirt was second this time.
One of the events is a 10K road race run through and around the downtown area. Here’s a short video I shot at about mile 5.5 of the race. I was working as a Course Marshal and had to get to work directing traffic after the leaders passed my intersection.
